ISLAMABAD: The government on Wednesday announced uninterrupted gas supply from 3:00am to 10:30pm and pledged no electricity loadshedding during Sehri and Iftar even on loss-making feeders, as Ali Pervaiz Malik and Awais Leghari unveiled a special Ramazan monitoring and complaint-response plan.
Federal Minister for Energy (Petroleum Division) Ali Pervaiz Malik on Wednesday said the government has finalized a comprehensive Ramazan gas supply plan in consultation with Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to ensure uninterrupted supply and maximum pressure across the country, particularly during Sehri and Iftar hours.
Addressing a press conference in the federal capital alongside Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, the petroleum minister said a modern monitoring system has been activated to oversee gas distribution and feeder performance in real time.
He said the government has strengthened its gas supply mechanism ahead of Ramazan and will carry out special surveillance during peak demand hours, ensuring consumers do not face low pressure during Sehri and Iftar.
Ali Pervaiz Malik stated that all feeders will remain under strict monitoring and the system has been designed to ensure uninterrupted supply even in areas that usually face pressure shortages due to distance and network constraints.
He further said that special attention will be given to tail-end areas, where complaints of low pressure are typically more frequent during peak consumption hours.
The petroleum minister said citizens can register their gas-related complaints by calling the dedicated helpline 1199, adding that the complaint system has been strengthened to ensure immediate response.
He added that the managing directors of both Sui companies will personally supervise complaint resolution, ensuring that issues are addressed within the timeframe prescribed by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
On the power sector side, Minister for Energy (Power Division) Awais Leghari said the government has also issued clear instructions to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during Sehri and Iftar.
He announced that even loss-making feeders will not face loadshedding during Sehri and Iftar timings, reflecting the government’s commitment to provide maximum public relief during the holy month.
Awais Leghari said consumers can lodge electricity-related complaints by calling helpline 118, and strict monitoring arrangements have been put in place to address issues immediately.
Both ministers emphasized that Ramazan relief measures are being implemented under the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with the objective of ensuring smooth utility services during critical hours when household demand rises sharply.
The ministers said the government has already managed utility challenges successfully during the winter season and has now further enhanced coordination and monitoring systems to ensure better performance during Ramazan.
They said that uninterrupted electricity and gas supply during Sehri and Iftar remains a key public facilitation initiative, particularly at a time when the government is also working to control inflation and ensure the availability of essential commodities.
The government reiterated that its monitoring teams and complaint response mechanisms will remain active throughout Ramazan to ensure timely action and uninterrupted service delivery for consumers nationwide.
