ISLAMABAD: Zong has commercially launched its 5G services after securing a 5G license, with initial rollout spanning more than 16 cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta.
The development signals the beginning of a new era of high-speed connectivity, as the company (Zong) aims to deploy and upgrade over 1,000 5G sites nationwide during 2026, significantly expanding its next-generation network footprint.
The launch represents the culmination of Zong’s 5G journey, which began with Pakistan’s first 5G trial in 2019. The company claims it has already achieved speeds exceeding 1.4Gbps during trials, positioning itself at the forefront of network innovation in the country.
As a subsidiary of China Mobile Limited, the world’s largest telecommunications enterprise, Zong aims to bring global expertise and innovation to Pakistan’s evolving digital ecosystem.
The rollout aligns with the government’s broader digital transformation agenda, including Digital Pakistan and Vision 2030, and is expected to support key sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, and industry through high-speed, low-latency connectivity.
