    SpaceX’s innovative service

SpaceX’s Starlink division is preparing to provide mobile call services through satellites, taking phone connectivity to the next level. The “Direct to cell” service will allow customers to make calls anywhere in the world using their smartphones, with only an LTE-supported device required.

    Remote areas coverage

This service will work in areas where mobile networks aren’t available, including deserts, oceans, and forests. Satellites equipped with modems will function like mobile towers, sending signals directly to smartphones, ensuring uninterrupted conversation.

    Successful Trials with major brands

The service has already been successfully tested on smartphones from essential manufacturers like Apple and Google. SpaceX confirmed that LTE-supported phones, which includes older models like the iPhone 14, can be compatible with the service , making it accessible to a wide range of users.

    Beyond Emergency Messages

Not like initial emergency service, customers will be able to send full messages, making it simpler to save lives in critical situations. The service will offer both messaging and later voice and data services.

    Global Rollout

The service will be launched first in the countries like Ukraine, the US, Japan, and New Zealand, with Ukraine expected to receive it in the last quarter of 2025. Initially, messaging will be available, followed by voice and data services.
