    Lavish gifts to US officials

    The 2023 report revealls that US President Joe Biden, First lady Jill Biden, and intellegence officials received gifts worth millions. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented First lady Jill Biden with a diamond valued at $20,000, making it the maximum high-priced gift.

    Presents from Indian officials

    Indian country wide security guide Ajit Doval gifted US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan a silver statue in January 2023 and a wood elephant sculpture in July. Indian officers also gave locally crafted gifts from Kashmir to CIA operatives.

    Pakistani Contributions

    In 2022, Pakistan’s PM Shehbaz Sharif gifted President Biden a $525 carpet. In 2023, Pakistani Ambassador Masood Khan presented a $600 carpet to a senior US official.

    Presents to US talent officers

    CIA officials obtained gifts totaling $132,000 in 2023. CIA Director William Burns was gifted an $18,000 telescope camera, while other operatives received luxury items like diamond jewelry, luxurious watches, and perfumes. A Libyan businessman alone gave $30,000 really worth of jewelry to a US intelligence officer.

    Regulations on gift Reporting

    US law mandates reporting items exceeding $480. Significant or historic items are handed over to the national archives or General Services Administration to make sure proper documentation and transparency.
