Trump Criticizes Zelensky, Calls Him a Comedian
Former U.S. President Donald Trump criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, calling him a comedian who tricked the U.S. into providing $350 billion in aid. Trump claimed Ukraine cannot win the war without U.S. help and blamed Biden for spending more than Europe.
He alleged that half of the aid to Ukraine is unaccounted for and accused Zelensky of avoiding elections while losing public support. Trump insisted he alone could have negotiated peace with Russia, criticizing Biden and European leaders for failing.
Zelensky’s Transition from Actor to President
Zelensky, born in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine, graduated in law, but his intention was to pursue a comedy career. It started for him in 2015, when he starred as a fictional president in the series Servant of the People and followed that up with a triumph over former president Petro Poroshenko in a tightly contested election in 2019 for president of Ukraine.
