Taxation and very much Governance Concerns
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Faisal Karim Kundi made harsh comments about taxation of the landowners by the provincial government, which he aptly titled “not being all that able. Speaking to farmers at a Peshawar meeting, he believed that once the Chief Minister announced civil disobedience action by the landowners, there would be no stopping them.
Infrastructure and Educational Contrasts
Kundi said that there is a severe difference regarding the infrastructure develop ment, such as while in other provinces bigger projects were started, few initiatives fall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He has promised to commence the Chashma Right Bank Canal this year. He raised an issue on education where 24 from 34 in the province have no vice chancellors, affecting the academic process.
A Call for Match Making
According to some, this issue of financial shortcomings has its roots deeper down in some broader economic malaise, while Kundi reiterated the importance of good governance and equity in the distributive mechanisms of public lifesavings. The two, provincial and federal shoulders, must actually come together on these moth- nagging problems.
