Heavy Rainfall in the Border Areas
Quetta: An unusual western weather system is currently active over the Pak-Iran border region, causing heavy rain. The provincial disaster management authority (PDMA) Balochistan reveals that this weather system has caused fairly significant rain over the bordering regions adjacent to Iran and Afghanistan, while northern Balochistan is expected to be under its grip by noon.
An unprecedented weather system is reported by PDMA officials to be affecting Balochistan probably till 28th February, while almost all areas of the country will feel its impact. In particular, heavy rain, hail, and gusty winds are expected to prevail over the next 72 hours in the districts of Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Loralai, Ziarat, Harnai, Kohlu, and Barkhan; an alert has, therefore, been issued for residents to refrain from unnecessary travel.
Rain Forecast for Punjab
The PDMA Punjab, in turn, expects rain in most areas of the province, along with gusty winds and thundershowers from February 25 until March 1. Rain and snowfall are likely to occur in the higher mountainous regions like Murree and Galiyat. From February 25 to February 28, cities such as Lahore, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Narowal, and Sialkot will see rain, with snowfall anticipated in the higher elevations.
