Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s willingness to hold peace talks with India, underlining that any dialogue must focus on the Kashmir dispute and the right of Kashmiris to self-determination. He shared these views during a visit to Kamra air base on Thursday, where he met with Pakistan Air Force pilots and personnel.

Shehbaz Sharif stressed that talks with India should be based on United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Kashmir. He also rejected allegations against Pakistan related to the Pahalgam incident, calling for a transparent investigation and criticizing India’s aggressive response.

The prime minister lauded the Pakistan Air Force for its role in defending the country during one of the longest aerial battles of this century. He highlighted their success in shooting down Indian aircraft and achieving air superiority, congratulating the armed forces for their bravery and professionalism. According to him, the world witnessed Pakistan’s strength from May 6 to May 10 amid the conflict.

Accompanied by senior civil and military officials, Shehbaz Sharif stated that the conflict sent a strong message to India and improved Pakistan’s international standing. Despite India’s larger population and costly military imports, Pakistan’s armed forces showcased superior skill and resilience, altering the regional power dynamics.

Invoking the legacy of Pakistan Air Force heroes, he praised the modern capabilities under the leadership of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu. He assured that Pakistan’s forces remain fully prepared to defend the country against any aggression with a decisive response.

Addressing internal security, the prime minister accused India of involvement in terrorist activities inside Pakistan, including the train hijacking in Balochistan. While reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace, he warned that the desire for peace should never be misunderstood as a sign of weakness.

During his visit, Shehbaz Sharif was briefed on operational readiness and commended the frontline air force personnel’s professionalism. He paid tribute to the sacrifices of the armed forces and assured support for the families of martyrs.

The prime minister’s visit highlighted Pakistan’s determination to protect its sovereignty while extending an offer for peace talks centered on resolving the Kashmir issue.
