Punjab Police have arrested more than 3,300 people across the province in 2025 for violating the Anti-Kite Flying Act, authorities confirmed. So far, 3,301 cases have been registered, with officials confiscating over 446,000 kites and nearly 16,000 spools of string.
Lahore alone accounted for more than 1,000 arrests and close to 1,000 registered cases. The police seized nearly 25,000 kites and over 1,100 spools of string during their ongoing crackdown in the city.
Last year, the numbers were much higher, with over 12,500 arrests and nearly 12,000 cases filed across Punjab. The Inspector General of Punjab has ordered strict enforcement of the Kite Flying Prohibition Amendment Bill, emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach to the manufacture, sale, and use of kites and metallic strings.
Authorities have also been directed to target illegal online sales of banned kite materials, highlighting the serious risks this practice poses to public safety.
