Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University Lyari (BBSUL) has suspended Abdul Rashid Mullah, the university’s Bursar and Account Officer, following harassment allegations. Mullah is barred from entering campus until further notice.
The decision came after a Syndicate meeting on Monday, which acted on findings from a fact-finding committee. The committee confirmed that Mullah harassed a female student through messages sent via a mobile app. The investigation was launched after the student filed a formal complaint.
The probe was conducted under supervision from a Department of Universities and Boards official and, after consulting the Ombudsman, the Syndicate resolved to suspend Mullah.
In the same meeting, faculty member Ghulam Mustafa was demoted to lecturer after it was discovered he had submitted an equivalency certificate for PhD coursework instead of an actual doctoral degree.
