A charity hospital in Karachi’s Landhi area was violently attacked by a mob on Wednesday, leaving medical staff injured and causing significant damage to ambulances and equipment.
The unrest erupted after the death of a woman who had recently given birth at the hospital but was later referred to another facility due to complications and passed away after a week of treatment.
Following the tragic news, angry villagers gathered at the hospital in Kohi Goth, assaulting staff with sticks and stones and damaging hospital property.
Hospital head Prof Dr Tipu Sultan expressed deep concern over the attack, emphasizing the hospital’s mission to provide free, quality care, including being one of the few centers worldwide offering free fistula treatment for women. He warned that ongoing violence threatens the future of vital community healthcare services.
