PESHAWAR — Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Secretary General Humayun Khan has voiced strong support for including all political stakeholders, notably the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in the diplomatic delegation tasked with representing Pakistan internationally during heightened tensions with India.

Following recent military escalations, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced plans to dispatch a high-level diplomatic delegation to key world capitals to counter what he described as Indian propaganda. When asked about the PTI’s role in this delegation, Khan emphasized the need for unity, stating, “All stakeholders are welcome to get this country out of this crisis.”

Khan praised the appointment of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari to lead the delegation, calling it the right move to effectively advocate Pakistan’s position on the global stage. “We need to be on one page and fight the country’s case,” he remarked.

The latest conflict between New Delhi and Islamabad followed India’s unfounded accusations against Pakistan for the attack in Pahalgam last month. In retaliation, India launched air strikes targeting Punjab and Azad Kashmir, which caused civilian casualties. Pakistan responded by shooting down five Indian jets.

The military standoff escalated with drone interceptions and reciprocal airbase strikes, ending only after U.S. diplomatic intervention led to a ceasefire on May 10. Despite this, India has maintained aggressive rhetoric, while Pakistan has warned against further military action and offered dialogue.

In response to the ongoing crisis, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assigned the diplomatic delegation—led by Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and including prominent figures such as Climate Change Minister Dr. Musadik Malik, former foreign ministers Khurram Dastgir and Hina Rabbani Khar, and senior diplomats—to visit capitals including London, Washington, Paris, and Brussels. Their mission is to expose India’s disinformation campaign and advocate for regional peace.

Recently, a PPP delegation met with the Prime Minister to strategize on effectively presenting Pakistan’s stance to global powers.

Meanwhile, India has announced plans for seven all-party delegations to visit key countries later this month to share its narrative on terrorism and national unity before members of the UN Security Council and other international partners.
