On Youm-e-Takbeer, Pakistan’s civil and military leadership reaffirmed the nation’s unwavering commitment to its doctrine of credible minimum deterrence, celebrating 27 years since the historic nuclear tests in Chagai that established Pakistan as a nuclear power.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the visionary leadership, scientists, and engineers whose efforts turned the dream of a nuclear Pakistan into reality. Highlighting the recent successful defense against Indian aggression, PM Shehbaz called for unity and determination to transform Pakistan into a strong economic power while saluting the sacrifices made for national security.
President Zardari emphasized that Pakistan’s nuclear capability remains a calculated means to maintain peace, regional strategic balance, and safeguard sovereignty. He praised the measured response during recent tensions with India and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and international law.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) echoed these sentiments, describing Pakistan’s nuclear program as a guarantee of peace rooted in strategic stability. The armed forces renewed their “unflinching resolve” to defend the nation against all threats, stressing that Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal is solely for defensive purposes.
Provincial leaders and political figures across the country joined the national chorus of pride and determination. Tributes were paid to the late Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan and other pioneers of the nuclear program, along with recognition of the leadership roles played by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.
Youm-e-Takbeer serves not only as a commemoration of Pakistan’s strategic milestone but also as a call to sustain vigilance, unity, and progress toward peace and prosperity in the country. The day stands as a powerful reminder of Pakistan’s resolve to defend its sovereignty and build a brighter future for generations to come.
