QUETTA (Monitoring Desk): Customs Enforcement Quetta, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, has seized a large consignment of electronic goods with an approximate value of Rs151 million, authorities said on Friday.
According to a press release issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the items recovered included 2,520 foreign-origin tablets as part of the seizure operation.
An FIR has been registered against the culprits involved in the case, the FBR statement said.
In its remarks on the operation, the FBR said, “The operations were carried out on the basis of credible intelligence and reflects the continued commitment of Customs Enforcement Quetta to curb smuggling and protect the national economy.”
The press release highlighted the role of provincial agencies, noting that the timely support and coordination of Law Enforcement Agencies of Balochistan played a vital role in the successful execution of the operation.
The FBR added that “Customs Enforcement Quetta reiterates its resolve to continue strict enforcement actions against smuggling and illegal trade in close coordination with law enforcement agencies.”
The statement said recent successes by Customs Enforcement formations reflect the benefits of the FBR’s functional restructuring and introduction of a single enforcement command, which it described as part of the government’s governance reforms focused on improved service delivery.
The press release also noted broader customs performance, stating that in January Pakistan Customs recorded historic revenue collection of Rs2.31 trillion, a 20 percent increase compared to the previous fiscal year, with overall customs duty and taxes rising by 48 percent. It also said Pakistan Customs has seized smuggled goods worth Rs41 billion this year and handled 3.85 million containers.
The FBR’s announcement underscores continued enforcement efforts to curb smuggling and strengthen compliance with trade and customs regulations
