Gas supply to multiple areas of Balochistan has been suspended following a suspected sabotage incident that ruptured a major pipeline near Akhtarabad Western Bypass, the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited said in a statement on Monday.
An 18-inch diameter pipeline was reportedly damaged in an explosion carried out by unidentified individuals, severely affecting a valve assembly and halting gas flow. The disruption has impacted residential and commercial consumers across Mastung, Kalat, Pishin, Kuchlak, Ziarat, and several parts of Quetta, including Hazara Town, Hazarganji, Kharotabad, Pashtun Bagh, Khaizi, and Nohsar.
Security agencies, including the Bomb Disposal Squad, conducted a thorough sweep of the site to ensure no additional explosives were present. Following clearance, SSGC announced that technical teams are scheduled to begin repair work from the morning of March 31.
The company assured consumers that all-out efforts are being made to restore gas supply as quickly as possible and promised to provide regular updates. SSGC also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the disruption.
