ICCI president calls for stronger support to youth-led enterprises

ISLAMABAD: President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Sardar Tahir Mehmood has underlined the role of Pakistani youth in driving the country’s economic future, calling for greater support to young entrepreneurs and professionals.

Addressing a delegation of business leaders and young innovators on Saturday, he said the energy and skills of the youth were helping transform Pakistan into a centre of innovation and sustainable development. “Our young generation is not just the future; they are the driving force behind today’s economic growth, technological advancements and cultural dynamism,” he said in a statement.

He said ICCI was committed to creating an enabling environment where young entrepreneurs and professionals could thrive. The Chamber, he added, was working to facilitate youth-led startups and businesses through mentorship programmes, access to finance and platforms for international exposure.

Sardar Tahir Mehmood stressed the need for partnerships between the Chamber, academia and government to harness this potential. “By investing in education, skill development and technology, we can unlock new opportunities for our youth and for the nation as a whole,” he said.

He also urged local and international investors to recognise and support Pakistan’s youth ecosystem, noting the presence of “immense untapped potential” ranging from tech innovators to creative professionals.

Concluding his remarks, the ICCI president reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to empowering young Pakistanis and ensuring they have opportunities to compete and succeed at both national and global levels.
