ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has reduced the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by Rs2.52 per 11.8 kg cylinder for March 2026, bringing marginal relief of Rs0.21 per kg amid volatile regional energy markets.
According to OGRA, the maximum consumer price of LPG has been set at Rs225,836.99 per metric ton for March, effective from March 1, 2026. This translates into Rs2,664.88 per 11.8 kg domestic cylinder.
In comparison, the notified consumer price for February stood at Rs226,050.87 per metric ton, or Rs2,667.40 per cylinder. The month-on-month reduction amounts to Rs213.88 per ton and Rs2.52 per cylinder, reflecting a 0.09 percent decrease. On a per kilogram basis, the price has been lowered by Rs0.21.
At the producer level, OGRA has fixed the March price at Rs184,536.99 per metric ton, equivalent to Rs2,177.54 per 11.8 kg cylinder. In February, the producer price was Rs184,750.87 per metric ton and Rs2,180.06 per cylinder, marking the same Rs213.88 per ton and Rs2.52 per cylinder reduction.
OGRA clarified that LPG producer prices are linked to Saudi Aramco’s Contract Price (CP) and the US dollar exchange rate. While Saudi Aramco CP remained unchanged during the review period, the average dollar exchange rate declined by 0.11 percent, leading to the marginal downward adjustment in prices.
The regulator has uploaded the detailed LPG price notification for March 2026 on its official website for public access.
Although the reduction is modest, officials say it reflects the formula-based pricing mechanism tied to international benchmarks and currency movements. Market observers note that even minor exchange rate fluctuations can influence LPG prices, given Pakistan’s partial reliance on imported supply to meet domestic demand.
With LPG widely used by households, commercial kitchens and transport sectors, especially in areas without piped gas infrastructure, the revised rates will apply nationwide from March 1, subject to enforcement at the retail level.
