In a series of phone calls on Saturday, the Prime Minister personally briefed key political figures—including PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, MQM’s Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, BAP’s Khalid Hussain Magsi, and PML-Q’s Chaudhry Salik Hussain—on the evolving security landscape.
Sharif praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for what he called a “well-coordinated and forceful” response under Operation Bunyan al-Marsoos following Indian missile and drone attacks that targeted locations including the Noor Khan Airbase and led to civilian casualties.
“Alhamdulillah, our forces have avenged the blood of the innocent with precision and professionalism,” the Prime Minister declared. He emphasized that Pakistan had exercised patience despite repeated provocations, including India’s rejection of an impartial probe into the Pahalgam incident. “We were left with no option but to respond,” he said.
Pakistan’s military action, Sharif confirmed, specifically targeted installations linked to India’s initial strikes, underscoring the retaliatory nature of the mission.
In a rare show of bipartisan unity, the country’s political leaders issued a joint statement applauding the armed forces’ bravery and tactical expertise. “The professionalism of our armed forces in defending the homeland deserves the highest praise,” the statement read, vowing full support to the government during this critical period.
Prime Minister Sharif welcomed the united stance, calling it a testament to the country’s resilience. “In moments like these, national unity is our greatest strength,” he said, thanking the opposition for putting politics aside in the interest of national security.
