Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has instructed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to open the Babusar Top highway ahead of schedule this year, aiming to improve access to northern Pakistan for tourists and locals.
Usually opened in July, the Babusar Top route was made accessible one to two months earlier thanks to swift clearing of glaciers and obstacles. This early reopening is expected to reduce travel time to Gilgit-Baltistan by approximately five hours, enhancing connectivity between northern regions and the rest of the country.
The move follows the successful restoration of the Kaghan-Naran Highway and fits into the government’s broader plan to promote tourism and improve infrastructure in scenic areas like Kaghan Valley and Naran.
NHA officials encourage travelers to take advantage of the improved route, assuring continuous maintenance and safety measures throughout the tourist season.
