Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, chairman of Indonesia’s National Economic Council, in Beijing on Tuesday to discuss strengthening ties between the two countries.
Marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Wang emphasized China’s commitment to deepening political trust and advancing key projects like the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor. He highlighted expanding cooperation in sectors such as ocean resources, minerals, and emerging industries.
Wang also noted global challenges from unilateralism and trade bullying, urging China and Indonesia to uphold fairness, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and resist anti-globalization trends. He congratulated Indonesia on becoming a full BRICS member and expressed readiness to promote the Bandung Spirit, regional integration, and a shared Asia-Pacific future.
Luhut reaffirmed the strong Indonesia-China friendship, praising fruitful cooperation in trade, finance, technology transfer, and talent development. He noted the positive regional impact of landmark projects like the high-speed railway.
Looking ahead, Luhut expressed Indonesia’s desire to deepen exchanges across all levels, broaden cooperation, strengthen cultural and people-to-people ties, and enhance solidarity within the Global South alongside China.
