The Opposition Grand Alliance Takes Shape
Islamabad: The Pakistan Constitution Protection Movement (PTP) has dismissed reports that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman put conditions for the leadership role in the opposition’s Grand Alliance. A PTP spokesperson termed such reports as false propaganda to undermine opposition cohesion.
Alleged Demand and PTI’s Response
Earlier sources indicated that Imran Khan was worried about alleged demands made by Maulana Fazlur Rahman about leadership and exclusion of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) from the alliance. However, PTI has not commented officially on the demands.
Challenges to Opposition Unity
The delay in finalizing the agreement means further trouble is expected for the opposition united front. Added to this, uncertainty is growing because of a foreign tour lined up for Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Jamaat-e-Islami’s refusal to join. The coming days will tell if the alliance will sober up or become further fragmented in strife.
