FBR foils Rs18.67 billion drug smuggling attempt near Noshki

The Customs Enforcement Wing of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Saturday thwarted a major attempt to smuggle narcotics worth more than Rs18 billion, seizing 300 kilograms of crystal meth (methamphetamine) concealed inside a truck’s modified fuel tank.

According to a statement posted on X by the FBR Enforcement Wing, a truck travelling from Taftan to Quetta was intercepted by a Customs team in Noshki. During a detailed inspection, officers discovered a false fuel tank compartment containing multiple boxes filled with narcotics.

Authorities confirmed that two residents of Hoshab in Kech district were arrested at the scene, and a first information report (FIR) has been registered. “Further investigation is underway,” the enforcement wing said, adding that both the vehicle and narcotics, together valued at approximately Rs18.67 billion, have been seized.

The FBR described the operation as part of its broader campaign to curb cross-border smuggling and drug trafficking through Balochistan’s western routes.

Earlier this week, in a separate operation, the Pakistan Navy ship PNS Yarmook — operating under the Combined Maritime Force (CMF), a multinational naval coalition that includes the United States — intercepted sailboats carrying narcotics valued at over $972 million in the Arabian Sea.

Authorities say both operations underscore Pakistan’s continued cooperation with international partners in combating transnational smuggling networks.
