Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will travel to Riyadh from October 27 to 29 to attend the Ninth Future Investment Initiative (FII9), where he will lead a high-level delegation to explore new avenues for economic and investment cooperation with Saudi Arabia, the Foreign Office (FO) said in a statement on Sunday.
Invited by His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, the premier’s delegation will include Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and senior cabinet members. The visit aims to further expand bilateral collaboration across trade, energy, human resource development, and investment sectors.
The FII9 conference — themed “The Key to Prosperity: Unlocking New Frontiers of Growth” — will bring together global leaders, investors, policymakers, and innovators to discuss innovation, sustainability, economic inclusion, and geopolitical shifts shaping the world economy.
During his stay, Prime Minister Shehbaz is expected to hold meetings with Saudi leadership to strengthen economic engagement and discuss regional and global developments of mutual concern. He will also meet with heads of international organisations and leaders from other participating countries on the sidelines of the event.
“These exchanges will highlight Pakistan’s investment potential and readiness to collaborate on sustainable development,” the FO said, adding that the visit reflects Pakistan’s commitment to advancing economic diplomacy and fostering strategic partnerships in technology, investment, and sustainability.
Last month, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed a landmark Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement during Prime Minister Shehbaz’s state visit to Riyadh. Under the pact, any aggression against either country will be treated as an attack on both, strengthening joint deterrence and defence cooperation between the two brotherly nations.
