ISLAMABAD — Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced on Saturday that passports of Pakistanis deported from abroad will be cancelled upon their return, and first information reports (FIRs) will be registered against them.
In the last 16 months, Saudi Arabia has deported over 5,000 Pakistani beggars, while 369 others have been apprehended for begging in five different countries. Additionally, around 106 Pakistanis were deported from European countries and arrived in Islamabad last month.
The Interior Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to blocking passports of deportees and tightening the process for issuing new travel documents. An important meeting held in Islamabad, chaired by Naqvi, finalized these measures.
The deportees’ names will be added to the passport control list for five years, preventing them from traveling abroad. A committee, led by the interior secretary, has been formed to strengthen and improve passport regulations further.
Naqvi criticized the deportees for bringing embarrassment to Pakistan on the international stage and warned that no concessions would be granted in the future.
