Opposition to Judicial Transfers
The Islamabad High Court Bar has backed five judges in the Supreme Court, condemning executive interferences in judicial matters in relation to the transfer of three judges.
Call for Judicial Independence
The Bar denounced the transfer of the judges for lack of due process, asking the Supreme Court to hear their petition to reinstate them to their original posts.
Legal Concerns Raised
In statements issued by Bar President, Naeem Gujjar, and the Secretary, the judges’ petition (No. 184/3) challenges what they maintain are unconstitutional transfers of judges that pose a threat to judicial independence, which they allege also alters seniority and endangers constitutional supremacy.
