Netanyahu Stops the Release of Palestinian Prisoners
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has postponed the release of Palestinian prisoners that were originally meant to be released in exchange for six hostages released by Hamas. An estimated 600 Palestinian prisoners were to be released under the ceasefire, but now this has been delayed.
Reason for Delay
Hamas’s recurrent violations not only weaken the ceasefire but have also brought shame upon the released prisoners’ use in political propaganda, giving us a better justification for an impending delay, stated the Prime Minister’s Office. “No further release will be considered until after the hostages are released without humiliating ceremonies,” Netanyahu said.
Suffering for the Families of the Palestinians
The delay, meanwhile, continues to torment hundreds of Palestinian families in the West Bank, which are still waiting for the release of their relatives who have been in Israeli jails for years.
