Maryam Nawaz, Chief Minister of Punjab, announced the rollout of the province-wide electric bus project which offers low-cost and highly eco-friendly transportation.
The Project’s Highlights
While addressing the event at Lahore, Maryam Nawaz said that innovation and progress have always remained part of the legacy of the PML-N government. He announced that the electric buses would be free for students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities. Regular passengers will be charged between Rs.20-Rs.35-the lowest in the entire country.
Facilities and Expansion
The fleet of 27 electric buses immediately launched operations, with an additional 500 set to join Punjab by August. The province additionally assembles electric buses in Faisalabad while engaging various Chinese companies for future expansion.
More Passenger Convenience
The new electric buses have free Wi-Fi, Mobile charging points, and CCTV cameras to give extra layers of safety and harassment free travel to women, making public transportation safer and accessible to all.
