Sindhi writer and former Sindhi Language Authority Secretary Taj Joyo has accused police of forcibly entering his home in Gulistan-e-Sajjad and detaining his two sons early Monday morning. In a video statement, Joyo said around 100 police officers broke down the gate of his residence before arresting Hoshu Joyo and Ruplo Joyo.
Both sons were presented before the Anti Terrorism Court and remanded to jail. They are among nearly 290 individuals—250 men and 40 women—named in an FIR lodged at Cantt police station. The FIR alleges the group chanted anti-Pakistan and anti-army slogans during a rally near the press club on Sunday night.
Charges include violations under sections 123/A, 341, 147, 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code, and sections 6 and 7 of the Anti Terrorism Act.
One of the accused said the protest was against the proposed six canals project and corporate farming.
